It has come to light that the Israeli propaganda machine used The Wall Street Journal to push the lie that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) was somehow involved in the events of October 7 of last year that prompted Israel to wage full-scale war on Gaza.
The GrayZone editor Max Blumenthal tweeted evidence showing that Israel used the WSJ – and more specifically, ex-Israeli army spokeswoman Carrie Keller-Lynn, who helped co-write the hit piece – to smear UNRWA.
“Around 10% of Palestinian aid agency’s 12,000 staff in Gaza have links to militants, according to intelligence dossier,” reads Keller-Lynn’s byline on the story, which we now know was a complete fabrication designed to boost Israel’s image while tarnishing that of UNRWA.
“The vote by the Israeli parliament against @UNRWA is unprecedented,” UNRWA tweeted in apparent shock at the latest developments in the Middle East. “It opposes the @UN Charter and violates the State of Israel’s obligations under international law.”
“Failing to push back against these bills will weaken our common multilateral mechanism. This should be a concern to all.”
The bill UNRWA is referring to is a Knesset bill that “sets a dangerous precedent,” according to Philippe Lazzarini, the commissioner-general of UNRWA.
“This is the latest in the ongoing campaign to discredit UNRWA and delegitimize its role towards providing human-development assistance and services to #Palestine Refugees,” Lazzarini further wrote in a tweet.
“These bills will only deepen the suffering of Palestinians, especially in #Gaza where people have been going through more than a year of sheer hell. It ?will deprive over 650,000 girls & boys there from education, putting at risk an entire generation of children. These bills increase the suffering of the Palestinians & are nothing less than collective punishment.”

For Lazzarini and many others, it is difficult to comprehend the heartlessness of the Israeli regime with regard to the Palestinian people. UNRWA is one of the very few international aid agencies that is trying to help the Palestinian refugees who have nowhere to go due to the IDF invasion.
“Putting an end to UNRWA & its services will not strip the Palestinians from their refugee status,” Lazzarinin made clear. “That status is protected by another UN General Assembly resolution until a fair and lasting solution is found to the plight of the Palestinians.”
“Failing to push back these bills will weaken our common multilateral mechanism established after World War 2. This should be a concern to all.”
On X / Twitter, an account called “Dutchie” (@DutchieVs) pointed out some anomalies with the footage the IDF presented to the world of UNRWA harboring “servers” that were supposedly being used by Hamas to conduct terrorism on Israel.
“If you watched the IDF footage of the ‘servers’ under UNRWA headquarters, you’ll notice the soldier points at a solar converter with thick dust on the extraction fan,” the account explains. “He claims its [sic] a server then says UNRWA must have been able to see their bill sky-rocket.”
“Its [sic] followed by footage of server racks with no dust on their extraction fans. As an IT professional, it wasn’t difficult to tell they had been planted. There is zero reason to trust the IDF after their attempts to falsify evidence. Regardless of how transparent the attempts were.”
Whether you support Israel or not, there is no denying that lots and lots of people, many of them innocent children, are dying at the hands of the IDF in Gaza. Learn more at Genocide.news.
